Rose Marie Schiltz started her career at Minnesota Power in 1923, the young company’s 25th employee. Trolley cars and horse-drawn carriages were commonplace in her neighborhood, and gaslight fifi xtures were still in many homes.

An executive secretary for 45 years, Rose took dictation, shorthand and phone messages … and she took the bus to work.

Today, we’ve grown to employ 1,200 people across the region, from accountants to line workers to engineers and environmental scientists.
