Rose Schlitz

Minnesota PowerRose Marie Schiltz started her career at Minnesota Power in 1923, the young company’s 25th employee. Trolley cars and horse-drawn carriages were commonplace in her neighborhood, and gaslight fifi xtures were still in many homes.

An executive secretary for 45 years, Rose took dictation, shorthand and phone messages … and she took the bus to work.

Today, we’ve grown to employ 1,200 people across the region, from accountants to line workers to engineers and environmental scientists. Together, we’ve spent the last century bringing you economical, reliable energy, powering your everyday tasks and lighting your memorable moments. And we want the next 100 years to be even better.
